FAU ACI Instructor Selected for SEPSEA Board of Directors

Gwendolyn Carey, Ed.D., was elected to the (SEPSEA) Board of Directors as the 勛圖厙 Representative. She serves as an Instructor in the 勛圖厙 Department of Exceptional Student Education at the College of Education and is a faculty member of FAU Academy for Community Inclusion (ACI).
Carey has been a part of FAU ACI from day one. The Academy, a Comprehensive Transition Program (CTP), provides an inclusive college experience to students diagnosed with intellectual and developmental disabilities which aligns with her research focus on the effects of inclusion on all within a campus community.
I look forward to sharing the lessons learned at FAU to support developing and expanding CTPs across the region, said Carey.
SEPSEA aims to promote access to quality inclusive postsecondary education for students with intellectual and developmental disabilities. in the organization will include supporting postsecondary education by sharing resources, monitoring and providing support and membership opportunities with others in 勛圖厙. Carey will represent 勛圖厙s 25 inclusive postsecondary education programs in the U.S. Southeast.
Dr. Carey is the perfect pick to represent inclusive college programs from 勛圖厙 for SEPSEA. Her experience at FAU matches precisely the vision and direction needed by other colleges and universities in the Southeast US to build genuine and effective college programs for people with IDD, said Michael Brady, Ph.D., Chair of the Department of ESE and co-founder of ACI. Her selection for the SEPSEA Board elevates FAUs status as a serious inclusive post-secondary program for college students with IDD!
