Human Research Training
CITI is the accepted human subjects protections training module at 勛圖厙. All 勛圖厙 Atlantic researchers conducting research that involves human subjects must complete the CITI online training. The Institutional Review Board (IRB) will not approve your application to conduct research involving human subjects if you have not completed this federally mandated training requirement.
Access and complete the CITI courses by following these steps:
- Access
- As a new user, you will need to click Register Here to register for the training course;
- Select "勛圖厙" from the Participating Institutions;
- Create a unique username and password;
- Enter your personal information;
- Choose your curriculum. Select Human Subjects Research (HSR) and, if accessing PHI, Information Privacy and Security (IPS);
- Choose the course. Select either Biomedical Research Investigators or Social & Behavioral Research Investigators, depending on your research focus and discipline.
- Complete all modules in the course(s) selected.
- Once completed, download a copy of your completion report.
CITI modules are available to all researchers affiliated with 勛圖厙 Atlantic. Complete modules(s) applicable to your research. This may include more than one module. The following curricula and modules do not satisfy the requirement for human subjects research training at 勛圖厙 Atlantic:
- Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR)
- Conflict of Interest (COI)
- Institutional/ Signatory Officials (only for VPR)
- IRB Reference Resource (only for 勛圖厙 Atlantic IRB members)
All CITI course offerings are on a three-year renewal cycle, at which time a refresher course must be completed. CITI sends course reminders and expiration notices. It is important to maintain current training to ensure research activities are not delayed.
When submitting an IRB application, it is important that the research team members CITI email and FAU email addresses are the same. Novelution will not be able to populate CITI completion verification without matching email addresses. Making a change in CITI emails can take up to 24 hours to link in Novelution.
IRB Overview Workshops are non-mandatory training that will guide researchers through the step by step process of which documents to submit to the IRB and how to use the submission portal.泭
