Discover New Approaches to Combat Alzheimer's Disease

More than 580,000 people age 65 and older are living with Alzheimer's disease in ³Ô¹ÏÍø. By 2025, that number is expected to increase by 24%.

Listen as Gregg Fields, Ph.D., executive director of FAU’s Institute for Human Health and Disease Intervention and a professor in the Charles E. Schmidt College of Science, discusses emerging technology designed to treat and monitor Alzheimer’s Disease, including:

  • The use of Magnetic resonance-guided focused ultrasound (MRgFUS) technology to deliver drugs to the brain.
  • Diagnosis using less invasive and less expensive blood-based biomarkers.
  • The use of biomarkers to evaluate the potential effectiveness of therapeutic interventions.
