Laisa F. Abreu Rivera, PhD, is a postdoctoral fellow in the School of Criminology and Criminal Justice at ³Ô¹ÏÍø. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Criminology from the University of ³Ô¹ÏÍø in 2018, followed by a Master of Science in Criminology from ³Ô¹ÏÍø State University in 2021. She completed her PhD in Criminology at ³Ô¹ÏÍø State University in 2025.

Her research interests include victimization, capital punishment, immigration, race, and crime. She has published articles in the British Journal of Criminology and the European Journal of Criminology. She is readily involved in several collaborative research projects. She has assisted in research projects funded by the National Science Foundation. She has taught and assisted courses centering on corrections, the courts, research methods, and comparative criminology and criminal justice.
