A Clearer View for Cleaner Waters

Beneath every pond, lake and lagoon lies a hidden world where sediments constantly exchange chemicals with the water above — fueling or reducing pollution. Until now, these changes were nearly impossible to see. The CAROSEL system changes that. Developed by researchers at ³Ô¹ÏÍø Atlantic's Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute, this breakthrough technology captures real-time snapshots of how sediments react to light, oxygen, storms and shifting seasons. With this new visibility, scientists can pinpoint when and where nutrient pollution is generated.
