Policy Regarding Admission of Master’s and Post Master’s Certificate Students

Admission CriteriaÌý Master's Bridge
BSN/PMC: Minimum grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale for the finalÌý
60 baccalaureate-level course credits in the B.S.N. program, or GraduateÌý
Record Examination (GRE) or Miller Analogies Test (MAT) scores areÌý
required for applicants with a grade point average of less than 3.0. Bridge:Ìý
Minimum grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale for the final 60Ìý
baccalaureate-level course credits

Admission shall be based on a review of credentials and published admission criteria used by graduateÌý
faculty to judge the appropriateness of the applicant to pursue graduate study in their selected MastersÌý
concentration:
Applicants are reviewed by faculty reviewers. Reviewers use an admission scoring rubricÌý
developed and approved by the Master’s Committee to insure review consistency.Ìý
The Assistant Dean of the Graduate Programs, or designee, presents applicants followingÌý
individual faculty review to the Masters Admissions Committee or directly to the MastersÌý
ÌýReviewed by Master’s committee with no changes October 2013
Committee. The Masters Admission committee meets as needed and is made of up of at least 3Ìý
graduate faculty members.Ìý
The Masters Admissions Committee and/or Masters Committee determine the collegeÌý
admission recommendation.Ìý
Admission committee and/or Master’s Committee recommendations are submitted electronically to theÌý
Graduate College for final decision. Formal admission decisions are communicated to the applicants byÌý
the Graduate College.Ìý
Applicants are given notice of admission/denial within a reasonable period of time following theÌý
decision. All admitted applicants are recommended for conditional admission pending outcome of the
required background check.
Beginning Spring 2014, the NursingCAS Web Admit System will be used to manage the admissionÌý
process. Applicants will be assigned to Graduate Coordinators. Graduate Coordinators will assign
applicants to faculty reviewers as appropriate.Ìý
