The Police Communications Section is staffed and operational 24/7, with full-time, non-sworn Police Communications Officers. The Communications Section is responsible for processing both emergency and non-emergency calls for service on the Boca Raton campus, as well as handling non-emergency requests for the Jupiter, Harbor Branch, and Davie campuses.
A Police Communications Officer (PCO) is required to complete training and be certified by the State of ³Ô¹ÏÍø Department of Health (DOH) in order to serve as an E911 Public Safety Telecommunicator.
The Communications Section monitors the blue light emergency phones system.
Additionally, PCOs monitor a camera network system that spans across the Boca Raton and partner campuses. They monitor high-risk areas during incidents to assist officers, report suspicious activity for investigation, and help identify necessary camera repairs by notifying the appropriate personnel.
